Part 8 - Moving Forward

I’ve never been one who can stand by when I see someone being wronged, especially when I know there is something I can do about it. I’m educated in website development, trained and experienced with computer repair and many things “tech”, and I have a decent understanding of social media. I knew that people had been taken advantage of and, if I did nothing, more people would continue to be taken advantage of. It was clear to me that the best course of action would be to write a blog and “advertise” it on social media.
Unfortunately I had to accelerate my timeline to expose the information I had gathered once Amy started unfriending, blocking, and banning me on facebook. The fb group and blog were started before the first of the year, but I didn’t post the blog anywhere, nor did I open the group up for membership, until around January 6th. I knew I had a limited amount of time before she would realize I hadn’t been kicked out of the Bliss group so I rushed to get everything together in a digestible format.
Maybe I fancy myself as a lawyer or detective from all the crime dramas I’ve watched, but I felt that the best way to do this would be to stick to the facts as best as I could, and let the facts speak for themselves. Apparently I stand alone as someone who feels this way though because the number of people who are committed to spinning wild and elaborate accusations, with little to no evidence, is astounding to me. I’ve never understood gossip. It’s not helpful; it only stands to hurt.
Since creating Sea Truthers I have been called many names. Some, who refuse to consider that what I’m saying could be true, call me a liar. Others, who don’t understand the definition, have called me a slanderer. And yet others discount my efforts and have called me selfish. I’ve almost entirely avoided speculation and conjecture. So, if I’m sticking to only the facts, how could I be a liar? And if I’m sticking only to the facts, how could I be a slanderer? Moreover, the people accusing me of slander aren’t even using the correct term because slander is specifically spoken, not written. Lastly, would a selfish person pursue an endeavor to expose the truth once they had received their refund? As far as I know, I am still the only person to actually get money back from Amy. If I were selfish I wouldn’t be spending countless hours of my time managing this blog and facebook group.
One of the more disturbing things has been the suggestion that I’m somehow doing something wrong by following my passion and becoming a cruise agent. It’s been suggested that this is all some plot to tear down Amy in order to build up my own business. This is, yet again, a case of people ignorantly speculating on a topic they know nothing about because they don’t have anything better to do with their time. I’ve wanted to become a travel agent for years but couldn’t find a route to that goal until recently. Below is a screenshot of a chat conversation from February of 2017 when I had barely even heard of Amy Donoho. I’ll expand on my recent endeavor in an upcoming blog post.
The Youtube video and blog now have loads of views, and the facebook group has exploded with many requests to join each day. It’s honestly unsustainable. I know people suck, I’ve known it all my life but I just didn’t realize just how many people suck. I never realized how many people simply enjoy being rude and/or have a complete lack of empathy. The amount of name calling, trash talk, and speculation that has been thrown around in the facebook group is amazing to me, and very disheartening. And that’s on the group that I manage. I put rules in place in an attempt to stay on topic, stick to the truth, be respectful, and let the facts speak for themselves. Yet even in my own group trolls run rampant. Then you’ve got people who spy on our conversations so they can post screenshots of what the “private” group is talking about and trolls who’ve been banned in my group that have started their own trash talking group. I haven’t been there, but I hear it’s a real train wreck.
If you found my group and thought it was going to be your ticket to cyber bully the Donohos, you couldn’t be more wrong. If you’re like the trolls over at “Cruising with wheels”, you’d be better off elsewhere. I’m doing this for the truth. I had two goals when I set out 1) do my part to prevent others from being taken advantage of and 2) attempt to help victims get their refunds. I’ve done about as much as I can on the first goal. The second is going to require people to come forward with proof.
To date we stand at six. Six people who have come forward with evidence they have lost money to Amy. I know there are more because just the excursion would’ve been 19 people who are still waiting on a refund. I’m not sure if we haven’t gotten the word out to them, or if they are afraid to come forward. But, since the gossip dogs and trolls seem to think nothing’s happening because proof hasn’t been posted. Well, this is as close as you’re ever going to come to seeing it. Just because we aren’t moving at the lightning quick speed that you desire, nor are we showing our work to the likes of you, doesn’t mean it’s not proceeding. When have you ever known anything worthwhile to happen quickly?
What I can say is that specific steps are being taken. If you have been reluctant to join the facebook group but still wish to do your part to ensure that Amy doesn’t victimize anyone else then please follow this link (https://bit.ly/2S1vgCw) to report her to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). Florida is unique in that it requires travel agents to get a license from the state if they live in Florida. Amy apparently never had this license and her host agency was negligent in ensuring she was properly licensed. We feel her capacity to take money from people would have been severely limited had the host agency been more diligent in their duties. The host agency was A.S.A.P. Cruises, Inc. DBA Cruises and Tours Unlimited, license #ST15578. Part 8 - Addendum
I'm Chad Burt, one of the owners of ASAP Cruises Inc. I am terribly sorry that this misfortune has happened to you. Please note that Amy was acting outside of her contract with us and outside of the law. She was terminated immediately when we found out about this. We were not party to this transaction in any way. I strongly recommend requesting a refund from PayPal. In these types of circumstances, they are very helpful.
